The school district is governed by an elected Board of Education. The members of this Board are elected for 4-year terms of office. The current Board of Education members are as follows:

Our Approach

The Brooklyn Unit School District #188 Board of Education generally meets on the 3rd Thursday of every month at 5:30 p.m. These monthly meetings are held in the district office conference room at Lovejoy School.

Committee meetings are called on an "as needed" basis.

All notices of meetings of the Board of Education (regular, special, committee), as well as agendas, are posted on the district bulletin board, the front entrance door to Lovejoy School, and at several public locations throughout the village.

To request to be placed on the Board meeting agenda, a citizen must send a written request to the Superintendent no later than the Friday preceding the date of the Board meeting. This allows time for the item to be reviewed and included on the written agenda. If this format is not followed by the individual, the requested item shall not be taken under advisement by the Board.
